Michael’s Promise: A Place for Healing | Cleveland Southside Moms

Lisa Stewart, owner of Solia Spa in Brecksville, guest beauty expert for Fox, The Doctor’s, writer, and advisory board member for Skin Inc, the founder and owner of Peri Skin Care, and co-host for the national TV show, Lite It Up TV, now has another title to add to her name. She is now also the founder of Michael’s Promise, a non-profit organization aimed at helping children and young adults heal from the trauma of sexual abuse.

Michael’s Promise is very personal for Lisa.

“I love to help people feel good about themselves. What drove me to do this is I was sexually abused as a young child and thought for a long time that I wasn’t good enough,” she said. “As I started to heal, I learned this isn’t true, and this isn’t my burden to carry. This was when I learned how to love myself. I feel for people who have been abused and want to help them so they don’t carry this burden. It’s not theirs to carry. it’s incredible what we can do when we heal.”

Michael’s Promise is a dream long in the making for Lisa. She was waiting for her skincare line to hit big so she would have the capital to fund her nonprofit. But she heard God say the time was now, and she listened.

“Since then God has been bringing me the people to help support my nonprofit and have it come to fruition. It’s so beautiful,” she said.

Michael’s Promise will offer a safe space of love and support for young people tp heal through a multi-faceted, holistic program including equine therapy, hiking, kayaking, fishing, yoga, sound bowl healing, crystals, painting, drawing, sculpture, glass blowing, singing and or learning to play musical instruments and more. They will even have a nutritionist that will teach about food.

“Basically we teach self-love and how to listen to your body,” Lisa said. Moving blocked energy in the body so one doesn’t become sick. Learning how to release the trauma. The day you love yourself is the day the world falls in love with you.”

For now, Michael’s Promise will be housed in Solia Spa, offering services when the spa is closed. The plan is to open in early June. This Friday, April 29th, Lisa is hosting her first major fundraiser to launch the organization. It’s from 6 pm to 9 pm at Wild Eagle Saloon in Broadview Heights. Tickets are $52.00 and include, food, 2 drinks tickets up to $12.00 along with side boards, 50/50 raffle, and an auction.

Lisa said she also will be needing helping hands.

“We would love volunteers as we grow,” she said. “If you feel a calling in your heart to help we would love to have you be part of the Michael’s Promise organization.”

Also, any time someone purchases a product from Peri Skin Care a percentage goes to Michael’s Promise. And, when a client comes to Solia Spa and has a service and/or purchases retail products they will donate to Michael’s Promise.

“We are fully committed to helping our youth to heal,” Lisa said.
